Luena - More than fifteen patients, including children and adults, who suffer from facial deformities, began on Tuesday, in Luena, to undergo free maxillofacial surgery at the General Hospital of Moxico (HGM), ANGOP learned.
The aforementioned surgical campaign, of the oral and facial forum, embodied in the operation of cleft lip (cleft lips and cleft palate), as well as the removal of tumors, will be carried out by 14 specialists, in an initiative of the Ministry of Health (MINSA).
According to maxillofacial surgeon Vitorino Jamba, people registered for the aforementioned campaign will undergo medical evaluation and lab tests, in order to prove the compatibility of the pathology, before the surgery begins.
The initiative by the Ministry of Health, in partnership with Hospital Josina Machel, will initially serve patients with injuries and deformities in the face, mouth and neck in five provinces of the country, namely Benguela, Uíge, Huambo, Cunene and Moxico, having started in Luanda.
The campaign is the second of this type of surgery, in a period of nine months, after 24 children and adults with congenital cleft lip and cleft palate malformations were also subjected to surgery sessions, in 2023, in that health unit. ISAU/TC/YD/CF/DOJ
