Benguela - The maternity ward at the General Hospital of Benguela (HGB) received, on Wednesday, equipment with cutting-edge technology and disposable material, a donation from the NGO Joint Aid Management for Africa.
These include a complete sphygmomanometer, portable electrocardiogram machine, portable oxygen concentrator, vital signs monitor, emergency car, thermometers, first aid kits and others.
Speaking to the press, the NGO program director, Ailton Muchave, said the activity falls within the scope of cooperation with the health sector of the Provincial Government of Benguela and aims to help meet some of the unit's needs.
"The material was acquired through our partners in the United States of America (USA), with the help of Angolan technicians, and is valued at more than 30 million kwanzas (US$33.450,3)," he stated.
According to the director, Angolan specialists participated in the planning and technical specificity of the equipment.
On the occasion, the provincial director of Health, António Cabinda, thanked the gesture on behalf of the provincial government.
He confirmed that JAM for Africa has been supporting the sector, mainly in the nutrition program and equipping some hospital units.
The doctor informed that this donation is the result of joint work on what maternity needs are.
For him, it is an added value, since that hospital unit is undergoing a restructuring process, with the opening of new areas to increase the institution's quality of care.
Joint Aid Management for Africa is an NGO based in Benguela, which also carries out activities in the provinces of Cuanza-sul, Namibe, Huíla and Cunene.
Its activities include medical and pharmaceutical assistance, the distribution of school meals, basic sanitation and the opening of water holes.
So far, JAM for Africa controls more than 228 thousand beneficiaries, distributed across the programs mentioned above. TC/CRB/CF/DOJ
