Ondjiva - The acting representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Angola, Zabulon Yoti, reaffirmed, this Wednesday, in the southern Cunene Province, the institution's commitment to supporting the Executive in promoting primary health care, aiming to improve the population's quality life.
When speaking during a meeting with health partners in Cunene, Zabulon Yoti recalled that the WHO acts on three fundamental pillars, linked to health promotion, protection of services and community access to hospital means.
“As an Angolan Government strategic partner, we’ill continue to work towards the revitalization of primary care and ensure that all Angolans, particularly children, have access to vaccines and quality health services”, he highlighted.
On the occasion, the official informed that, in the coming days, the vaccine against cervical cancer will be launched in Angola, in order to reduce the number of cases and ensure that girls are prevented from this disease.
Regarding the visit to Cunene, he made it known that it aimed to assess the work being carried out in communities to eradicate Dracunculiasis (guinea worm disease), which occurs in animals, especially in the municipalities of Cuanhama and Namacunde.
For her part, the director of the Provincial Health Office, Georgina Nunes, said that the three-day working day of the WHO representative will allow the identification of needs and possible support for the sector's various programs in the region.
