Luanda - The Ministry of Health on Friday warned that it will be ruthless against medical acts that violate professional ethics and deontology, in reaction to the death of a young man at Américo Boavida Hospital, due to alleged medical negligence.
The State Secretary for Public Health, Pinto de Sousa, read out a statement at a meeting with staff at the Américo Boavida Hospital (HAB), which reminds that the actions of health professionals must be based on ethical, deontological and human principles.
Pinto de Sousa said that the sanctions for those who don't fulfil their oath will be severe, reminding the participants that they are reflected in the Code of Ethics, and that they range from admonishment to withdrawal of the professional card.
Regarding the case of the young man who lost his life outside the Américo Boavida Hospital, he clarified that the enquiry is continuing in order to find out what actually happened and, as soon as it is finalised, the Ministry of Health will make the conclusions public.
