Luanda - Angolan government announced plans to boost the fight against infectious diseases and other events that interfere with public health.
The plan entails the launch of the "One health" strategy, said Tuesday the Secretary of State for Public Health Carlos Alberto de Sousa.
Carlos de Sousa said so at the opening of the workshop for sharing data on disease surveillance under the "One Health" strategy.
The official announced that a multi-sector and disciplinary group has been set up in order to provide a timely response to the outbreaks,
He is of the view that the high population density in the country, coupled with economic activities and poor sanitation in the neighborhoods have contributed to decrease in sharing of information on infectious diseases.
"With the One Health platform, we intend to share data on human, animal and environmental health to reduce death rate, the impact of diseases and adverse health events", he said.
Carlos Alberto de Sousa added that the involvement of communities in this process is crucial to promote risk reduction habits and attitudes, as well as support the early detection and containment of disease threats.
Among the figures attended the event include the Secretaries of State for Public Health, Higher Education, Budget and Public Investment, Land Administration, Agriculture and Livestock, Pre-School Education, Energy and Water, Interior and the Environment. LIN/ART/TED/NIC
