Luanda - The minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, praised on Thursday (Feb 21), in Luanda, the Draft Law on Clinical and Biomedical Research in the country, for contributing to scientific and technological development in the area of health and introducing new therapies in Angola.
The minister spoke about the aforementioned draft law that was considered and voted on Thursday, during the 2nd plenary session of the National Assembly.
The diploma was approved with 182 votes in favor, zero votes against and an equal number of abstentions.
For the minister, the aforementioned draft will ensure the imperative of protecting the research subject, through the adoption of measures that guarantee their dignity, well-being and safety.
Furthermore, the minister said that the approval of the diploma aims to facilitate access to better therapeutic alternatives based on the risk-benefit relationship.
As per Sílvia Lutucuta, the safety and well-being of the research subject must prevail over the interests of science and society for scientific and technological development in the area of health.
Thus, she added that the population's access to the benefits arising from the advancement of knowledge will be facilitated.
Sílvia Lutucuta said that the approval of the document will make it possible to establish, in a clear and unequivocal way, the basic principles and rules that should guide clinical research.
The aforementioned diploma contains 47 articles divided into 7 chapters.
