Luanda - American doctor Raymond Colhmia will speak on the various aspects of dental health at the 1st International Conference of the American Dental Association (ADA), to be held on the 29th and 31st of this month, in Luanda.

According to a press release sent to ANGOP Friday, the CEO (Executive Director) of the ADA, Raymond Colhmia, who is coming to Africa for the first time, has over 26 years of professional experience in private practice, accumulating several distinctions, both within the dentistry profession worldwide and in North American scientific academic institutions.

According to the conference spokesperson, Angolan doctor Félix Tchissola, Raymond Colhmia is one of the best dentists in the USA, a pioneer in research and development of dental materials and products.

"At a time when robotic surgeries are being talked about, which is an added value for our country, the first dental procedure performed by a robot is also being discussed in the US," he stated. According to him, the world of dentistry is so advanced in the United States of America that "there is an opportunity to learn from the pillar of this development."

He said that, within the framework of the State's good practices, the country continues to receive Angolan and foreign professionals trained in various parts of the world, in Medicine and other areas of knowledge, ensuring that Angola has qualified professionals. "In terms of assistance, Angola already practices dentistry.

We do need to innovate, promote research and increasingly value professionals in this area of knowledge," he emphasized. The presence of Dr. Raymond Cohlmia in Angola is the result of two teleconferences, held in October 2023 and in May of this year, for hundreds of dentists, researchers and medical students, including Africans, Europeans and Brazilians.

The teleconference, as part of the periodic training, was promoted by the Somus Unidade Project, in partnership with the International League for Scientific Medical Research and with the support of the Angolan Medical Association. The American Dental Association (ADA) is the world's most important dental medicine institution, headquartered in Chicago, United States of America. FMC/AC/TED/DOJ
