Luanda – The Angolan First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, on Monday inaugurated an intensive care unit at the Augusto Ngangula Maternity Hospital, in Luanda, with 12 beds and an isolation room as well.
The unit that was rehabilitated with the promotion of the Ngana Zenza Foundation has obstetrics emergency services, prenatal consultations, paediatrics, outpatient consultations, emergency room, laboratories, family planning, gynaecology, physiotherapy and imaging services.
Talking to the press at the end of the inauguration ceremony, Ana Dias Lourenço stated that the objective is to create better service conditions in health units.
The director-general of the Maternity Hospital, Madalena Diogo, thanked the First Lady for helping to provide different conditions to the intensive care unit, two weeks after its closure.
According to available data, every month the Augusto Ngangula Maternity performs an average 35 deliveries by surgery (Cesarean Section).
