Matala - Neighborhood and chieftain leaders were urged on Saturday to mobilize the population to join preventive campaigns against neglected tropical diseases and child vaccination programs.
The exhortation was made by the deputy municipal administrator of Matala (Huíla) for communities, Artur José, during a meeting with traditional authorities, governors and religious leaders.
Between this month and next, two campaigns are planned, one for vaccination coverage for children with an incomplete or non-existent calendar and another for the distribution of drugs aimed at preventing neglected diseases in adults.
In the first half of this year, health authorities in Matala registered 123 cases of so-called river diseases, 33 more than in the same period in 2023. MS/DOJ
