Saurimo – At least 88 health posts in Lunda-Sul Province have become budget units since November this year, with the aim of streamlining the services provided to the population.
The information was disclosed by the local governor Daniel Neto during a meeting with hospital managers, adding that that the financial and administrative independence of these units will help improve medical care and medication.
Without revealing the annual budget allocated to each health center, the governor urged the managers to be responsible, rational and prudent in their management, in order to ensure that users receive an efficient and quality service.
He also said that with the 88 health centers, the province has a total of 102 budgeted units.
The governor recognized that despite the efforts of the government, the health sector still faces challenging problems, especially in terms of the quality of medical care, a challenge that demands selflessness and commitment from everyone, especially the professionals who deal directly with the users.
We don't want patients to leave the health units with prescriptions to buy drugs on their own, the struggle is to make essential drugs available in our units," the governor said.
Lunda-Sul Province currently has 117 health units, including hospitals, health centers and health posts, staffed by 638 nurses and 116 doctors.MG/JW/HD/DAN/AMP
