Uíge – Roughly 463,316 children under the age of 5 were immunized against polio, in the province of Uíge, during the third phase of the vaccination campaign, which took place from the 6th to the 8th of this month in the country.
The data was presented on Tuesday, by the head of the Public Health Department, Lindeza Chaves, during the assessment of the 3rd phase of the campaign, having stated that there were more than 450,578 children vaccinated in the 2nd phase.
According to the official, these results demonstrate the commitment of the mobilization teams, as well as the work carried out by field agents.
In the 3rd phase, the province of Uíge benefited from 470k doses of polio vaccine, managed by 891 vaccination teams.
Regarding the routine vaccination campaign, Lindeza Chaves said that it aims to interrupt the circulation of type 2 poliovirus, intensify the active search for several diseases, as well as social mobilization on the importance of the routine vaccine.
