Huambo - One hundred and 40 patients with cleft lip problems and other facial deformities are registered in Huambo province for the massive campaign of maxillofacial surgeries, which starts this Friday, August 30, ANGOP learned.
The campaign, an initiative of the Josina Machel Hospital, in Luanda, in partnership with the local health office, will run until September 7, at the General Hospital of Huambo and Municipal Hospital of Ecunha, under the motto 'Make my life easier'.
Confirming the fact, on Tuesday, to ANGOP, the director of the Health office in Huambo province, Lucas António Nhamba, informed that, of the 140 patients registered, 70 are eligible for surgeries, after a set of tests and laboratory evaluations required before the operation.
He assured that no patient will be excluded, except for those who, at the time of surgery, are suffering complications from diabetes, hypertension and other problems, which require greater care.
He said that the Health office will be open to receive more patients, as the surgeries are taking place, through calling the 925865375 telephone number or for those who travel to the venue.
Lucas Nhamba informed that the team, with 14 multidisciplinary professionals from Luanda and 10 Huambo, including surgeons, anesthesiologist and nurses, is prepared to operate on up to 200 patients.
He called on to citizens of all ages, with any deformity in the face, jaw, throat and others, to sign up for the campaign, which plans to use the operating rooms of the Huambo General Hospital and the municipal hospital of Ecunha.
Maxillofacial surgery is a dental specialty that treats diseases of the oral cavity, face and neck, such as: facial trauma and deformities (congenital or acquired), trauma and deformities of the jaws and jaw.
