Saurimo – Some 128, 000 children, out of the 122,175 expected, were immunized in the province of Lunda-Sul, during the 3rd phase of the vaccination campaign against polio, which took place from the 6th to the 8th of this month, in the country.
The information was provided today, Tuesday, by the director of the Provincial Health Office in Lunda-Sul, Viegas de Almeida, highlighting that in the next few days, around 200 children identified in the municipality of Dala will be vaccinated, who for some reason were not immunized during the campaign period.
To ensure the success of the campaign in the province of Lunda-Sul, 144,200 doses of vaccine were made available and 274 teams were created, distributed across the four municipalities (Saurimo, Cacolo, Dala and Muconda).
The vaccination campaign was carried out due to new cases of polio registered in the provinces of Lunda-Norte, Luanda, Moxico, Huambo, Benguela and Lunda-Sul.EM/JW/HD/TED/DOJ
