Luanda - One hundred and five new cases of cholera were recorded in the last 24 hours in Angolan provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Icolo and Bengo, Malanje, Uíge, Huambo and Cuanza-Sul.
According to the Ministry of Health Information Bulletin (Minsa), which updates daily cholera data in Angola, in the last 24 hours, six deaths were also recorded in Luanda.
According to the report, of the 105 reported cases, 54 are from Luanda, 32 from Bengo, eight from Icolo and Bengo, seven from Malanje, two from Uíge, one from Huambo and another from Cuanza-Sul.
In the reference period, 121 people were discharged from the hospital and 229 patients with cholera are currently hospitalized.
The affected people are aged between two and 100 years, of whom 56% are male.
A cumulative total of 4,914 cases have been reported since the beginning of the outbreak in Angola, being 2,403 in Luanda, 1,842 in Bengo, 577 in Icolo and Bengo, 35 in Malanje, 29 in Cuanza-Sul, nine in Huambo, six in Huila, five in Zaire, three in Cabinda, two in Cuanza-Norte, the same number in Uige and one in Cunene.
Also, there have been 180 deaths, of which 84 in Luanda, 71 in Bengo, 19 in Icolo and Bengo, three in Malanje, two in Cuanza-Sul and one in Cabinda. MCN/DOJ
