Lubango - Central Huila registered on Friday the first case of cholera in the municipality of Hoque, after 12 years since the last case was registered.
The patient is a 27-year-old woman, resident of Luanda province, who arrived in the region Thursday, suffering from abundant watery diarrhea and vomiting, with symptoms that began at 4:50 pm.
Paulo Luvangamo, director of the provincial health office, said that as soon as they were informed, an epidemiological surveillance team went to the hospital to carry out the rapid test, which was positive for cholera.
Luvangamo said that this was a case that came from Luanda and arrived in Huíla on Thursday to do business in Quilometro 40, in the municipality of Hoque, where she is staying.
Paulo Luvangamo stressed that, apart from the emergency units, all the others have the conditions for first aid in cases of diarrhea or suspected cases of cholera.
