Lubango - The health authorities of Huíla reinforced, this week, awareness-raising actions for the prevention of cholera through visits to peripheral neighborhoods and the transmission of messages in churches, due to the cases recorded in Luanda, the spokesperson for the Huíla provincial health office, Júlio Madaleno, on Monday in Huíla.
Speaking to the press, he said that the “province is ready”, despite not having a record of cases, but is working on disseminating prevention measures.
According to the official, the population is advised to adopt personal hygiene measures, as well as in food.
He warned the population that if any symptoms (diarrhea and vomiting) are detected, the patient should not stay at home, but should be taken immediately to the hospital to avoid death from dehydration.
The official highlighted that all municipalities are ready and prepared in terms of supplies, cholera treatment centers, for any eventuality.
The last time the province of Huíla recorded a cholera outbreak was in 2013, where there were more than 2,000 cases, with greater emphasis on the municipalities of Lubango, Quilengues, Caluquembe, Gambos and Matala. BP/MS/MRA/DOJ
