Ondjiva – A total of 51 blood bags were donated, on Monday, to the Simione Mucune General Hospital of the southern Cunene Province, as part of a campaign promoted by the telecommunications company UNITEL.
The initiative involved the participation of 53 young people from associations and churches in Ondjiva City and aimed to reinforce the health unit's blood stock.
On the occasion, the head of the hospital's blood bank, Emília Vasnconcelos, praised UNITEL's gesture of solidarity, highlighting that it will help save human lives.
“With this donation, we are prepared to respond to any transfusion emergency that may arise”, he highlighted.
The Cunene General Hospital was inaugurated last August by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
The health unit, with a capacity of 220 beds, provides services in pediatrics, obstetrics, endoscopy, biology, ophthalmology, stomatology, emergencies, minor surgeries, X-ray, CT scan, hemodialysis, psychiatry, among others.
