Luena - The Moxico General Hospital is to hold a massive maxillofacial surgery campaign at the beginning of December, for children of the eastern region of the country (Moxico, Lunda - Sul and Lunda - Norte) with cleft lip disabilities, ANGOP has learnt.
This is the third phase of this free campaign that the health unit has been running for the last three years, involving children with cleft lip and palate deformities, as part of the Christmas solidarity program organized by the largest hospital in the province.
According to the director of the local health department, Tiago Mário, unlike previous editions, the campaign will bring together professionals from the ministry and the three eastern provinces to treat patients in the region with this deformity.
Mario added that despite the two previous sessions in which around 60 people were operated, many patients are still living with this health problem and that the campaign will continue under the motto ‘show solidarity with people with these conditions and give them back their healthy smiles’.
Data from the Health Ministry, around 2,300 patients with cleft lip and palate deformities have been operated this year. TC/YD/DAN/AMP
