Sumbe – The director of the Health Office in Cuanza Sul, Nelson Camilo, informed that the province’s new General Hospital, called “Comandante Raúl Díaz Argüelles”, with capacity for 200 beds, is to be inaugurated on Monday (Oct 21).
The level III health unit will provide, among others, pediatrics, obstetrics gynecology, Otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology, surgeries, orthopedics, cardiology, intensive care, mammography, imaging, and hemodialysis services.
Speaking to the press, Nelson Camilo informed that the new hospital unit will reinforce the humanization of health services, with a hospital/school component.
Last Friday, the hemodialysis service began operating, with a capacity to care for 80 patients, in an event witnessed by Cuanza-Sul local governor, Mara Quiosa.
On the occasion, Mara Quiosa said it was a memorable act, as there had never been a service of its kind in the province and patients no longer need to travel to the provinces of Luanda or Benguela to get treated.
The hospital, which pays homage to the Cuban military commander Raúl Díaz Argüelles, was budgeted at €63.180.000.
Commander Raúl Díaz Argüelles was born on September 14, 1936 and died in combat in the battle of Ebo (Cuanza Sul), on December 11, 1975.
The health unit was assigned to a Swiss company specialized in health solutions (PROMED INTERNATIONAL AG-MITOLLI GROUP), it occupies an area of 4.5 hectares out of a total of six hectares.
