Ondjiva – Ondjiva General Hospital (HGO) in southern province of Cunene, under construction since May 2021, will be unveiled in the first quarter of 2024, the Minister of Health Sílvia Lutucuta announced on Saturday.
The infrastructure has the capacity for 220 beds and occupies an area of 60,000 square meters.
Works are estimated at 52 million euros, including equipment.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of a visit to assess the execution of the work, Sílvia Lutukuta put at 84 percent of the execution of the works.
“We made a positive assessment and we are pleased with the evolution of the work, as the hospital will dignify the southern region of the country, providing the opportunity for a line of cooperation with neighbouring countries”, she stressed.
The minister said that the undertaking will have, among others, psychiatry imaging services, CAT scans, hemodialysis with 12 chairs and several operating rooms.
Ondjiva General Hospital will be secured by 1, 300 staff (technicians), who will be gradually hired through public tender. FI/LHE/AL/NIC
