Ondjiva - The chairperson of the College of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Angola Medical Association, Eurídice Chongolola, defended Thursday in Cunene province the need for parents to reinforce sexual education within families to prevent cases of early pregnancy.
Speaking on the subject of "Family planning and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases", Chongolola urged parents to be the true educators of their children's sex lives during adolescence, to combat the influences of globalization, motivated by the evolution of information technologies.
"Our teenagers must be well orientated, because the global world makes it easy for them to access information about sexuality, but without the necessary recommendations, which ends up causing countless consequences," she said.
Chongolola cited early pregnancy as one of the consequences of sexual relations in adolescence, contributing to an increase in the number of school dropouts, having emphasized the importance of values groups in transmitting positive attitudes towards citizenship and addressing issues that concern young people, including sexual health.
The talk organized as part of the two-day working visit by the First Lady of the Republic Ana Dias Lourenço to Cunene province, was attended by teenagers and young people from different Cunene-based organizations.FI/LHE/MCN/TED/AMP
