Moçâmedes - The government recommended, on Sunday, in the Province of Namibe, the inclusion, in the 2025 Public Investment Program, the construction of a new provincial hospital that provides hemodialysis services.
The recommendation came from the meeting that the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, held, in the city of Moçamedes, with the local Government, as part of his visit to Namibe province.
In the field of transport, he recommended the creation of conditions to certify Welwitshia Mirabilis Airport as International, in order to promote tourism.
The Executive also asked for the acceleration of the project to extend the electrical energy transmission network from Lubango to Namibe, with the aim of connecting the province to the national electrical system.
In the water subsector, the government understand that water supply to the province of Namibe must be reinforced, through the construction of new dams.
With regard to sport, the local government was advised to register funds in the Public Investment Program (PIP) for the construction of a race track, in order to enhance the province's potential in the field of motor sport and promote tourism.
The Executive recognized the role of the tourism sector in the economic development of the province and the country in general, and recommended boosting the participation of private business.
During the meeting, the provincial governor, Archer Mangueira, presented the memorandum that reflects the development framework of the province of Namibe over the last two years. FA/ART/TED/DOJ
