Luena - The provincial health authorities are investigating a strange disease that has attacked and paralyzed the legs of three children of the same family in Camanongue municipality, eastern Moxico province, ANGOP has learnt.
The children under the age of 10 entered the Camanongue Municipal Hospital with symptoms of malaria accompanied by paralysis of the legs, which is suspected to be polio.
With the diagnosis still reserved, the Provincial Health Directorate sent a public health team to Camanongue, 52 kilometers north of Luena, to carry out an “active search”, take samples and then carry out tests to determine an exact diagnosis.
Other possible suspected cases of poliomyelitis have also been under investigation for two months in Moxico municipality, four months after a campaign against this childhood paralysis disease was carried out.YD/TED/AMP
