Menongue – One hundred and fifty young people were mobilized to donate blood in health units in the city of Menongue, province of Cuando-Cubango, with a view to meeting the need for this body fluid.
The action has been carried out by the MPLA youth organization (JMPLA), which began with this solidarity gesture last Friday, at the hemotherapy center of the Menongue general hospital, with a group of 70 young people.
Then followed the municipal hospital, where 20 young people were present, the same number in the maternity ward and 30 in pediatrics, an activity that is part of the “Women in March” events.
The head of hemotherapy at Menongue general hospital, Rosalina Inês, was pleased with the initiative, as it will help patients who are crying out for lack of blood throughout treatment.
She called for society's involvement in similar campaigns, to address the constant need to use blood in the operating room, as this unit carries out an average of 10 transfusions daily, in patients with various complications.
