Mbanza Kongo - An as-yet-undetermined number of children in the province of Zaire with health problems will benefit from medical assistance and medicines in the Republic of Germany this year.
To this end, the process of screening and selecting children with pathologies that are difficult to treat in the country began on Tuesday in the city of Mbanza Kongo, an action that involves the National Children's Institute (INAC).
Speaking to ANGOP, doctor Servelina Alberto Neto Senalto, from the Kimbo Liombembwa organisation, said that they hope to select as many children as possible, between the ages of zero and 11, with neurological, cardiac, hearing and locomotor problems, as well as chronic wounds and cleft lips, among other illnesses.
According to the pediatrician, who leads a team of four technicians, the screening process runs until Thursday and the selected children will be able to travel in October this year.
She added that this type of activity has already been carried out in the provinces of Luanda and Bengo, emphasising that the regions of Uíge and Malanje will be next.
The doctor asked for greater cooperation from parents and carers in providing the necessary information to the medical team on duty.
In turn, the head of the provincial service of the National Children's Institute (INAC) in Zaire, Rafael Kidiwa, said that the lack of passports on the part of some of the children might affect their move to Germany.
He revealed that most of the children facing health problems are from families with lack of financial resources and to this end, he made a cry for help.
The partnership between the Zaire Provincial Government and the Kimbo Liombembwa organization has existed for 10 years.
Since then, 20 children with health complications have been sent to that European country for proper treatment. DA/JL/MRA/DOJ
