Luanda- Angolan minister of Health Sílvia Lutucuta confirmed Friday the existence of Ómicron variant cases in Angola, particularly in the country's capital (Luanda).
Updating Covid-19 statistics, Sílvia Lutucuta noted that 16 of the 17 samples, recently sent to a Portuguese laboratory, were micron and one delta variant.
Of the cases reported so far, all in Luanda, eight have a travel history, seven from South Africa and one from England, she said.
As for the fatality rate of the variant, the minister urged the Angolans to strictly comply with the prevention measures issued by the health authorities.
The minister urged the people to visit nearest health units for Covid-19 test if symptoms similar to those registered in common flu - cough, runny nose, headaches and, in some cases, diarrhea and loss of smell - appear.
