Luena – The “Jesus Salva” Medical Center, run by the Evangelical Church of the Brothers in Angola (IEIA), will carry out in the province of Moxico, around 100 cataract surgeries, during a campaign to diagnose ophthalmological diseases.
According to the manager of the aforementioned medical center, José Cheme, the campaign, running from Jan 6 to16, aims to meet the demand of the local population for this service.
He said that the campaign is being carried out by 10 professional ophthalmologists, including doctors and nurses, from the province of Benguela, and is taking place in partnership with the Organização Solidariedade Evangélica (SOLE).
On the campaign's first day, more than 50 consultations were carried out, diagnosing 30 cases of cataracts, 8 patients with allergies and corneal scarring, and 15 with glaucoma.
The “Jesus Salva” Health Center is one of the health units in the city of Luena, with the highest demand for medical services.
