Matala – A total of 19 people, aged between 5 and 55, underwent surgery, from the 11th to the 16th of this month at the Matala General Hospital, as part of the “Facilita a Minha Vida” maxillofacial surgery campaign, promoted by the hospital “Josina Machel”, in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
According to the coordinator of the medical team that worked on the campaign, Paulo Cambinda, the patients were from the municipalities of Matala, Quipungo, Jamba and Lubango, with a total of 31 with problems of facial and jaw deformities benefiting from free consultations.
In turn, the director of the Matala General Hospital, Domingos Francisco, stated that the presence of 7 doctors from “Josina Machel” also served to exchange experiences in several aspects of humanization of health services, despite the existence of patients who still require surgical intervention.
The administrator of Matala, Manuel Machado Quilende, thanked the efforts of the doctors who “returned” smiles and self-esteem to families, which is why he believes that the same work done in Matala will be carried out in other provinces of the country.
The municipality of Matala, located 180 kilometers off the capital of Huíla, is the second most populated in the province of Huíla, after Lubango, with an estimated population of more than 350k inhabitants.
