Menongue – A total of 120,249 children up to the age of 5 were vaccinated against polio, in the Province of Cuando-Cubango, during the third phase of the campaign, which ran from Sept 6th to the 8th.
Speaking to ANGOP on Wednesday, the head of the provincial Public Health Department, Cristina Luísa, highlighted that, despite the provisional results, the campaign exceeded expectations.
Cristina Luísa announced that, for the success of the campaign, 174,950 doses were made available with 1,095 teams on ground, from technicians, mobilizers, vaccinators, registrars, coordinators and logistics, professionals who were duly trained to ensure that vaccines were managed safely.
She explained also that in the coming days, 5,107 children will be vaccinated, with greater emphasis on the municipality of Rivungo, specifically in the town of Luiana, which is an area where the established objectives have not been achieved.
