Luanda - The Medicines and Health Technologies Regulatory Agency (ARMED) intends to put an end to the marketing of fake medicines and their sales in inappropriate locations, the acting director general, Pombal Mayembe has said.
Pombal Mayembe spoke at ARMED's first national methodological meeting, held from the 19th to the 20th of this month, under the motto "ARMED safeguarding the guarantee of quality, efficacy and safety of medicines for human use and health technologies".
The official said that they fight against this phenomenon in partnership with the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) and the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Security (ANIESA).
On the other hand, he added that the promotion of the development of technological regulation for the exercise of pharmaceutical activities in the country passes through ARMED.
Regarding the event, he explained that it aimed to provide health professionals in the area and beyond, with key information about the pharmaceutical regulatory system in Angola.
The head of ARMED also informed that the country has around two thousand licensed pharmacies.
