Lubango – The president of the College of Hospital Administration Specialties (CEAH) José Cunha on Friday urged Angolan health institutions to focus on epidemiology as a way to curb the demand for users in health institutions in the country.
Epidemiology is the study and analysis of the distribution, patterns and determinants of health and disease conditions in a defined population, the factors that influence or determine this distribution and the application of this study to the control of health problems.
This research is essential for identifying risk groups, targets for priority investment in screening programs for early detection and intervention in the disease, with the aim of reducing mortality caused by the disease.
Speaking to ANGOP José Cunha said the National Health Service prioritizes the existence of equity, but in practice the country is still far from achieving it. To this end, epidemiology could be a fundamental instrument for overcoming this challenge and reducing demand in health institutions. BP/MS/TED/AMP
