Luanda – A total of 110 new cases of cholera were registered, in the last 24 hours, in the provinces of Luanda, Bengo, Icolo and Bengo, Malanje and Cabinda.
According to the Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), which daily updates the cholera data in Angola, in the last 24 hours, 5 deaths were also registered, three in Luanda and one in Cabinda and Bengo, respectively.
Of the 110 cases reported, 55 are from Luanda, 39 from Bengo, 12 from Icolo and Bengo, 2 from Malanje and the same number in Cabinda.
According to the note, during the aforementioned period, 113 people were discharged and 148 patients are currently hospitalized with the disease in various health units across the country.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, a cumulative total of 4,582 cases have been reported, with 2,207 in Luanda, 1,750 in Bengo, 550 in Icolo and Bengo, 28 in Cuanza-Sul, 23 in Malanje, 8 in Huambo, 6 in Huila, 5 in Zaire, 2 in Cuanza-Norte, the same number in Cabinda and a single case in Cunene.
The people affected have a range in age that goes from 2 to 100 years, of which 56% are male.
Since the beginning of the outbreak, 163 deaths have occurred, of which 71 in Bengo, 67 in Luanda, 19 in lcolo and Bengo, 3 in Malanje, 2 in Cuanza-Sul and one in Cabinda.
