Luanda – A total of 191 new cases of cholera were registered in the last 24h in the provinces of Cuanza-Norte, Luanda, Benguela, Bengo, Malanje, Icolo & Bengo and Cabinda.

According to the Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Health (MINSA), which updates daily the cholera data, 15 deaths were also registered in the last 24h, 6 in Cuanza-Norte and Luanda, 2 in Icolo & Bengo and a single fatality in Bengo.

According to the document, out of the 191 cases reported, 59 are from Cuanza-Norte, 49 from Luanda, 34 from Benguela, 17 from Bengo, 15 from Malanje, 13 from Icolo & Bengo and 4 from Cabinda.

During the aforementioned period, 118 people were discharged from hospital and 239 patients are still hospitalized.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, in Jan this year, a cumulative total of 8,141 cases have been reported, of which 4,026 in Luanda, 2,428 in Bengo, 796 in Icolo & Bengo, 357 in Cuanza-Norte, 194 in Benguela, 181 in Malanje, 44 in Zaire, 36 in Cuanza-Sul, 33 in Cabinda, 22 in Huambo, 15 in Uige, 7 in Huila, while Cunene and Cubango each had one.

In total 313 fatalities were registered, of which 151 were in Luanda, 92 in Bengo, 33 in Cuanza-Norte, 21 in Icolo and Bengo, 7 in Benguela, 4 in Malanje, 3 in Cuanza-Sul, one in Zaire and Cabinda.
