Luanda – Angola’s Health minister Silvia Lutucuta has called for reinforcement of support provided by the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in Angola.
Lutucuta made the call on Thursday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, stating that the move is meant to improve technical assistance, ensure implementation of community programmes and medicines supply.
Speaking during a meeting with the head of PEPFAR, John Nkengasong, the minister made a brief presentation of the HIV/AIDS epidemiological situation in Angola.
The minister presented the plans of the Health Ministry in the implementation of community programmes to reach the target 95, 95, 95 by 2030 (95 percent of people living with HIV diagnosed, 95 percent of diagnosed people undergoing treatment and 95 per cent of people on treatment achieve viral suppression).
Sílvia Lutucuta is joining the Angolan ministerial delegation at the 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council and 36th Session of the Heads of State of the African Union, taking place on February 15-16 and 18-19 February, respectively, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
