Swearing-in
The Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, attended, on Sunday, in Kigali, Rwanda, the investiture ceremony of the Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, re-elected in July this year, for a five-year term.
The Angolan statesman witnessed the ceremony in the company of more than 20 African heads of state, as well as some representatives of international organizations, among other individuals.
Cease-fire
The Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, confirmed on Sunday in Kigali (Rwanda) that there is political will on the part of the authorities of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to comply with the ceasefire in the eastern region of the DRC.
In force since August 4, the ceasefire in eastern DRC was reached under Angolan mediation and aims to silence the guns in the conflict between the Congolese army and the M23 rebel group, allegedly supported by Rwanda.
Meeting
Issues related to the process of consolidating peace and security in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were under analysis this Sunday in Kigali (Rwanda), in a meeting that the Head of State, João Lourenço, held with his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame.
The Angolan statesman has been in Kigali since early Sunday afternoon to attend the investiture ceremony of Paul Kagame, who won the presidential elections last July.
Prison population
The Angolan penal population, estimated at more than 24,000 inmates, produced a total of 940.4 tons of various agricultural goods, during the 2022/23 campaign, according to data recently presented by the general directorate of Prison Services.
