Menongue - The consul general of the Republic of Zambia in the provinces of Cuando Cubango, Lunda-Sul and Moxico, Bonifácio Musumali, on Wednesday, in Menongue City, pointed to the education and health sectors as the main areas for co-operation, with a view to bringing the people of the two countries together.
Speaking at a courtesy meeting held at the Cuando Cubango provincial government, Bonifácio Musumali said that under the planned cooperation agreements, citizens of Cuando Cubango Province would receive academic training in the border provinces of North West and Eastern Zambia, initially focusing on the English language.
He added that similarly Zambian citizens would be able to receive training in Portuguese language in Cuando Cubango Province, as a way of improving communication between the citizens of the two countries and strengthening cooperation in other fields.
Regarding health sector, the diplomat recalled that there are steps that have been taken and that only need to be improved, since his country has shared experiences with Angola, both in specific training and in the care of patients who come to their hospitals in search of solutions for various illnesses, especially in the Mungo region, bordering the Rivungo municipality.
He emphasised that the two governments are committed to the development of their peoples. The central governments, at presidential level, make their policies, but the others must interact and implement actions within the framework of geographical proximity, with respect for the legal systems and institutions of the two states
The diplomat also expressed interest in cooperating in the areas of trade and agriculture, and said that Zambia would be holding an international exhibition between 31 July and 5 August, inviting the provincial government and local businesspeople to take part in the event.
The diplomat´s three-days working visit, includes a meeting with the provincial commander of the National Police and the Interior Ministry delegate in Cuando Cubango, as well as visiting the Prisons, Migration and Foreigners Services, in the interests of continued control and respect for the law, as well as meeting with the Cuando Cubango Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCICC) and a guided tour of the Cuchi Steel Company.
In turn, the deputy governor of Cuando Cubango for the political, social and economic sectors, Helena Chimena, praised the intention, saying that both in terms of staff training and in the health sector, Zambia has done a very humanist work in helping Angolans.
For this reason, he considered the exchange between the two peoples and governments to be an advantage, having been open to the idea of learning languages.
He reitarated that the Angolan province is rich of natural resources, arable lands and plenty of water, despite tourism that according to him, should be exploited by establishing partnerships.
