Prague – The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, said this Thursday, in Prague, that President João Lourenço's official visit to the Czech Republic (Czechia) achieved all the recommended objectives, due to the results achieved.
Téte António, who reviewed the visit of the Angolan Head of State to the press, said that during the meetings at the highest level, the foundations were laid for cooperation in specific areas, namely the Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations.
He stated that Angola and the Czech Republic have cooperation projects in the pipeline in the economic and industrial fields, as well as negotiations for the abolition of visas, in the first phase in diplomatic and service passports.
According to the minister, Angola will prioritize areas that offer some advantage and are in line with the economic diversification strategy, without neglecting key areas such as health, energy and agriculture.
To guarantee the work of businesspeople, the two states will also establish partnerships that enable reciprocal investment protection and mechanisms that avoid double taxation, legal instruments that will improve the business environment.
In Prague since Tuesday, the Angola Head of State witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations that aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation, which began in 1993.
Still on the first day of the visit, João Lourenço was received at the Prague Palace, with military honors, by his counterpart from the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, with whom he held a private meeting, then went to the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, as well as met with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala.
The Czech Republic is a country in Central Europe whose capital is the city of Prague, the country's main tourist destination, with a population of more than 10.7 million inhabitants.
It adopted the market economy, centered on commerce and industry based on international trade and the automobile industry.
Politico-diplomatic ties between Angola and the Czech Republic date back to the Cold War period, before the dismemberment of the Slovak Republic, which together with the Czech Republic both formed the then Czechoslovakia, disintegrated on January 1, 1990.
