Luanda - The meeting between Angola’s João Lourenço and the US president Joe Biden is receiving special attention in the international media outlets.
Media from various countries talk about the Angolan Head of State's trip to Washington, considering the meeting to be "historic" to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Portuguese Jornal de Negócio and Diário de Notícias announced Biden 's meeting with João Lourenço, underlining the US President' s commitment to Angola, especially the Lobito Corridor.
The news outlet Voice of America (VOA) emphasized that the meeting between the two statesmen is intended to mark the 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The VOA website adds that Joe Biden and João Lourenço will discuss ways to bolster bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, climate and energy and the announcement of investment in the Lobito Corridor.
Radio France Internationale (RFI) emphasizes that the meeting between the two leaders at the White House is the result of a more active diplomacy undertaken by the Angolan government since João Lourenço took office in Angola in 2017.
The meeting between the two statesmen is part of the celebrations of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Angola and the United States of America, which began on May 19, 1993, when former US President Bill Clinton officially established diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The agenda for the meeting includes discussion towards bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, climate and energy, and in particular the development of the Lobito Corridor, which will connect Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia.
