Luanda – The Vice-President of Republic, Esperança da Costa, on Tuesday in the Province of Luanda received in audience Ms Rosa Roque, mentor of the renowned musical group named “As Gingas do Maculusso”, and the outgoing secretary-general of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA), Deolinda Teca.
Speaking to the press, after the meeting, Rosa Roque revealed the Vice-President's interest in traditional and popular culture, as well as the recognition of the work of the Gingas group (all female), expressing her desire to see the singers well recognised by the Semba music project, intended to make such Angolan rhythm an intangible world heritage.
The meeting was part of the National Multisectoral Commission for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the registration of the semba musical and dance style as an intangible heritage of humanity, as well as the process of inventorying this genre.
Rosa Roque said that as an artistic director and entertainment promoter, she is happy due to the fact that the Vice-President is willing to support and contribute to make the projects a reality with emphasis to the Children's Festival and the Delírio Musical show (planned for this year), which aims to involve the big names in semba and other important trends in popular and traditional music.
She added that with the Vice-President they had also discussed the plan she has to launch a book on the haemodialysis process in Angola, a treatment which she has been undergoing, and also to highlight the serious investment by the authorities in the treatment of patients who need this support.
The show promoter also expressed her happiness that Esperança da Costa is interested in working with artists to facilitate support from banks and organisations that manage the national economy.
Rosa Roque is the mentor of the group As Gingas do Maculusso (The Gingas from Maculusso), who began together their musical journey in 1983 on the public National Radio of Angola (RNA).

On the other hand, the Vice-President of the Republic also received the outgoing Secretary General of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA), Deolinda Teca, with whom she discussed issues related to the ongoing partnership between the churches and the government in carrying out social causes, with a main focus on women and children.
Speaking to the press, the religious leader, who leaves office on 20 April this year, said that she went to meet the Vice-President of the Republic to discuss issues related to women and children, and the prospect of carrying out projects related to girls.
She informed that the church has been playing its part, but the main aim was to strengthen cooperation and the commitment to continueing the work in this area, "because if we want to have a country where values are really respected, we need to work from the bottom up, with children, teenagers and young people".
During the meeting, Deolinda Teca presented a project to create a school which, in a few days, will house some children and even teenagers, to be set up in the urban district of Ramiros, in the municipality of Belas, in Luanda Province.
He said that the project would help the communities and that they were counting on the government's support to teach people how to read and write, as well as the moral and civic values that should be preserved from the earliest stages.
On 20 April this year, Deolinda Teca will leave the post she has held for two terms of five years to the Reverend Vladimir Agostinho, who was elected during CICA's 23rd General Assembly in February this year.
On 24 February, CICA celebrated 47 years of existence and elected its eighth general secretary since it was founded in 1977.
Still in the ambit of the Vice-President’s audiences agenda, on the same day she received the Chairman of the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs, Cumbi Júnior, who took advantage of the meeting to extend an official invitation to the National Conference of Young Women Entrepreneurs of Angola, which will be held on Saturday (16) in Luanda, with the theme "The role of female leadership in the country's economic and social diversification process".
