São Vicente – The Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, arrived this Tuesday, in the city of Mindelo, San Vicent Island, in Cape Verde, to attend the 1st International Congress on “Science, Innovation and Development of Lusophony”, taking place from the 18th to 20th of this month.
At the “Cesária Évora” international airport, the Vice-President was received by the Angolan ambassador to the Republic of Cabo Verde, Júlia Machado, by the minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança, by the Mayor of Mindelo, Augusto Neves, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça.
According to the event program, Esperança da Costa, who is participating in the meeting on behalf of the President of Angola, João Lourenço, will speak at the Congress, where delegations from several Portuguese-speaking countries are expected.
The Angolan Vice President is part of the Honor Committee of the I International Congress on Science, Innovation and Development in Lusophony.
The Congress will address “The Paths to quality scientific research in Lusophony, promoting dialogue between universities, political power and companies”, as well as “Science, technology and innovation in Lusophone countries; such as the challenges and opportunities in the 21st century”.
The event is aimed at researchers, academics, decision-makers, university students and postgraduates from all Portuguese-speaking countries, who work in their countries or in the diaspora.
Angola, of the total of 150 researchers at the event, has an active participation of 46 lecturers from the most diverse areas of science and innovation, of which ten present the lectures in the face-to-face format.
Researchers from countries such as Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Cabo Verde and Portugal and the autonomous zone of Macau will participate in person and online, while Brazil, Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe participate only in the online format. PA/VM/TED/DOJ
