Luanda – The Political Commission of Angola’s main opposition party, UNITA, held this Tuesday, in Luanda, its IX ordinary meeting, which focused on the political, economic, social and diplomatic situation of the country in general and the internal life of the organization, in particular.
According to the final communiqué sent to ANGOP, the meeting welcomed the declaration on the political and social economic situation of the country, presented by the party president, Adalberto Costa Júnior, on behalf of the United Patriotic Front, on the 10th of July 2024.
The declaration prioritizes, among other issues, the need to dialogue and work with all the living forces of society and public institutions in the search for solutions capable of combining synergies for the sustainable development of the country.
The standing committee reaffirmed the effective implementation of Local Authorities in Angola as a patriotic act with a view to allowing citizens to directly participate in resolving local problems, thus ensuring sustainable development.
Regarding the diplomatic situation, he congratulated Adalberto Costa Júnior for the activity carried out in Paris, at the Conference of the Centrist Democrat International – CDI Africa, where he spoke about security, peace and democracy, as well as condemning any act of political violence, regardless of space geographical area of the world where it occurs.
On the other hand, it adopted the declaration on the country's real situation as a working document in party bodies that must be widely distributed to public opinion.
He states that he was informed by the coordinator of the Jonas Malheiro Savimbi Foundation, about the process of its legalization.
In the last general elections (2022) UNITA was the 2nd most voted party with 43.95% of the votes.
