Luanda - The European Union (EU) on Friday reiterated its continued support to the Angolan Government, in development projects for the diversification of the economy.
The position was expressed by the outgoing EU ambassador, Jannette Seppen, after an audience at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, granted by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, with whom she addressed aspects related to the development projects of this institution in the country.
The diplomat, who described relations between Angola and the EU as being ”very good”, said that investment priorities also include the development of human capital.
She also stressed that cooperation relations with Angola will continue to be strengthened through meetings and dialogues with the other fringes of Angolan society.
On the other hand, Jannette Seppen announced, for December this year, the holding, in Luanda, of the second business forum between Angola and the European Union.
She also said that, for European officials, the fight against corruption carried out by the Angolan Government is a measure that gives confidence to foreign investors to operate in Angola.
The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 independent Member States located in Europe.
It has its origins in the European Coal and Steel Community and the European Economic Community, formed by six countries in 1957.
In the years that followed, the EU's territory grew in size through the accession of new Member States, while at the same time increasing its sphere of influence through the inclusion of new political competences.
The Maastricht Treaty established the European Union with its current name in 1993. The last significant revision to its constitutional principles, the Lisbon Treaty, entered into force in 2009. Brussels is the de facto capital of the European Union.
Audience with Sheikh of Qatar
Even today, Friday, at the Presidential Palace, the Angolan Head of State received the sheikh, Faisat Bin Than Ac, from Qatar, with whom he discussed matters of common interest.
