Malanje - Businesspeople from Belgium, Romania, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Portugal intend to invest in norther Malanje province in the agriculture, tourism and education sectors, the European Union ambassador to Angola, Rosário Bento Pais, announced in the city on Monday.
The diplomat expressed this intention at the end of a meeting between representatives of the embassies of these countries and the provincial governor of Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, highlighting the potential of the region, with a focus on arable land and water, as having attracted potential investors.
She emphasized that cereal production is a priority for strengthening food security for citizens and beyond in Angola, and that Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and France already have investments in the agricultural area.
For his part, the chargé d'affaires of the Spanish embassy in Angola, António Santa Maria, said that his country intended to turn Malanje province into Angola's main tourist destination, through various investments, although it also had projects in the energy sector.
French embassy´s representative in Angola, Nicolas Maiselares, announced the possibility of new investments in the education sector, with the expansion of the EIFFEL high school network across the country, whose outstanding students benefit from scholarships in his country.
Malanje´s governor, Marcos Nhunga, recognised the European Union's support for the Angolan government, through the implementation of various social projects for the benefit of the population, and called for continued investment to contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.
The delegation of ambassadors has been working in Malanje since Sunday as part of the Forum on youth participation in local governance and its impact on the development of human capital, which kicked off today under the auspices of the European Union.
During their stay, the diplomats visited the Calandula falls, the Kwanza rapids, Cangandala National Park, among other tourist attractions, and some of the social impact projects that exist in Malanje. RM/NC/PBC/DAN/DOJ
