Luanda - The Field Mission of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU) to Mozambique ended on Wednesday after two days of intense activity marked by listening meetings.
The PSC, whose presidency was assumed by Angola in July, learned about the situation prevailing in Cabo Delgado province, the target of terrorist attacks since 2017 and assessed the impact of the withdrawal of the Southern African Development Community Mission in Mozambique (SAMIM).
In Maputo, the PSC delegation headed by Ambassador Miguel Bembe, expressed the AU's solidarity with the people and government of Mozambique and reaffirmed the commitment to support them in their unremitting efforts to eradicate terrorism and violent extremism in order to restore peace and stability in the country.
The last activity of the CPS under the rotating presidency of Angola took place this Thursday, in a hybrid format.
This is the 1225th Ordinary Meeting of the PSC during which the concept of operations of the AU after ATMIS, the Transition Mission of the continental organization in Somalia, was addressed. ART/DOJ
