Luanda- The Supreme Court (TS) started on Monday the trial of the deputy prosecutor of the Public Prosecutor's Office, Alceu Olegário Alexandre António, in Cuanza Norte province, accused of frustrated murder and bodily harm, a crime that occurred in January 2019.
The defendant, aged 35, is accused of shooting a citizen on the public highway after being involved in an altercation with a motorbike taxi driver, following a disagreement between the magistrate and the motorcyclists after his wife was involved in a road accident.
The indictment presented by the Public Prosecutor, Lucas dos Santos, points out that Alceu António got involved in conflicts with citizens in Cazengo municipality and subsequently wielded a pistol-type weapon, firing two shots, one of which hit a man, causing injuries to his chest.
In an attempt to leave the scene, the MP continued, he crashed his car into a motorbike, causing serious injuries to a woman.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the defendant regrets harming the integrity not only of the citizen, but also of the class of magistrates.
ANGOP has learnt that this is the second public trial of a public prosecutor at the Supreme Court.
The first was that of prosecutor Natasha Sulaia, accused of abuse of power in the exercise of her functions, after having requested from the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), in 2017, an international arrest warrant against a US citizen who was in dispute with her family.
The magistrate was eventually acquitted by the court due to insufficient evidence.FMA/ART/DAN/AMP
