Luena - The Moxico Provincial Court on Friday in Luena sentenced two Chinese citizens for crimes of possession of weapons, illegal entry into the national territory and use of fake documents.
The referred citizens, Cao Ji Jun and Wang Quichaung, had been caught, in July 2021, by the Border Guard Police, in the locality of Caripande, municipality of Alto Zambeze, illegally entering the national territory, in possession of firearms and the respective ammunition, accompanied by false documents.
In the defendants' possession were also found computer materials and money valued at US$10,000 and 30,000 kwacha (Zambian currency), which they allegedly stole from their boss, the owner of a fibre optic company where they worked, in the Kitwem region, in the Republic of Zambia, after beating him up.
During the reading of the sentence, delivered by the judge of the cause, Rivaltino Van-dúnem, the Provincial Court sentenced the defendant Cao Ji Jun to eight years and three months in prison, for the crimes of possession of weapons and ammunition and use of false documents.
The second defendant, Wang Quichaung, was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of weapons.
The judge also determined the expulsion of the defendants from the national territory, after serving the applied sentence.
