Luanda - The Constitutional Court (TC) has dismissed the action related to parliamentary litigation, filed by UNITA, which sought to annul the plenary session intended to discuss the process of accusation and dismissal of the President of the Republic.

In its Ruling 925/2024 to which ANGOP had access, on Saturday, in Luanda, the Court considers that there are no unconstitutionalities or legal non-conformities in the procedure adopted in the extraordinary plenary session, held by the National Assembly (AN), on October 14, 2023.

In December last year, the UNITA Parliamentary Group brought an action to challenge the said session for alleged defects and based on Article 73 of the Constitution of the Republic of Angola (CRA) and the combined provisions of Article 3(i) and Article 60(2), both of Law No. 3/08, of 17 June - Constitutional Procedure Law (LPC).

UNITA alleged several irregularities, including the failure to distribute the documents on the agenda to parliamentary groups and working committees, as well as the fact that the plenary session was not broadcast live on public television. VIC/DOJ
