Benguela - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived this Wednesday morning in the city of Benguela, in the province with the same name, for a working visit lasting a few hours.
Accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, the Head of State was received at Catumbela International Airport by the provincial governor, Luís Nunes, as well as members of the local government and representatives of the civil society.
In Benguela, the Head of State's agenda includes the inauguration of two photovoltaic plants (solar energy) in the
localities of Biópio and Baía Farta. The start of the two power plants, an investment of around 300 million euros, places Angola on the list of solar energy producing countries in Africa alongside Kenya, South Africa, Algeria, Ghana and Morocco.
The bet is part of the Angolan Government's strategy to produce clean and cheap energy, as a contribution to reversing the effects of climate change.
The return of President João Lourenço to the country's capital, Luanda, takes place this Wednesday.
