Abidjan – The Head of State, João Lourenço, on Wednesday arrived in Côte d'Ivoire, where he is on a two-day official visit, and was received by the president of the country at Félix Houphouet Boigny Airport.
The Angolan President, who was accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, was also welcomed by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire, Adama Bictogo, the Prime Minister, Robert Beugré Mambé, by the traditional authorities as well as hundreds of people who outside the airport displayed t-shirts with the faces of the two presidents and flags of Angola.
Angolan flags were placed along the main avenues of Abidjan, as a symbol of the importance of this visit considered historic by the Ivorian authorities.
In this West African country, João Lourenço´s programme includes one-on-one conversations with Alassane Ouattara and between delegations from both countries, as well as visits to expanding industrial areas, an official dinner and presence at the signing of 12 bilateral cooperation agreements.
The Angolan leader will also hold an interactive meeting with Angolans citizens residing in Côte d'Ivoire, as well as receive the keys to the city of Abidjan and being proclaimed an honorary citizen of the city.
In April this year, Angola and Côte d'Ivoire signed, in Luanda, agreements with a view to raising the level of relations in the sectors of Interior, Territorial Administration, Tourism, Health, Culture, Education, Higher Education, Environment, Information Technologies, Media and Telecommunications.
The signing took place during the First Session of the Angola and Côte d´Ivoire Bilateral Cooperation Commission.
