Mbanza-Kongo – At least 245 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were repatriated, in recent days, by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in the province of Zaire, for illegal entry and stay in Angola.
The spokesperson for the provincial delegation of the Ministry of Interior, Sérgio Afonso, informed ANGOP on Wednesday that the repatriation process took place at the land border of Luvo, municipality of Mbanza-Kongo.
The group included 159 men and 86 women who were accompanied by 17 children.
He explained that the aforementioned illegal immigrant group were collected in several locations in the main municipality of the province of Zaire, as part of control and inspection actions against foreigners in an irregular migratory situation.
The province of Zaire shares a vast 310 km land and river border with the DR Congo.
